Central gets a perfect 7 out of 7 Distinctions!!
Congratulations go out to the Central Middle School staff for making our campus one of the
400 Texas schools with perfect distinctions!!! Central Middle School received 7 out of 7
I want to thank the staff, our students, parents, our superintendent Dr. Canales, Central Office
staff and our W.I.S.D school board members for the support they have given to Central Middle
School throughout the years.
This year we are implementing many new initiatives. Two of the initiatives being: Lit for
Literacy and The Leader in Me. I have been so excited to see our staff implementing these
initiatives with fidelity. These two initiates have been positively embraced by our awesome
staff and students.
Our staff will continue to focus on raising the bar, not just on academic standards, but safety,
band, drama, cheerleading, student clubs and athletics while providing many educational
opportunities for ALL students at ALL levels. We also continue to believe that the entire
professional staff, parents, and students share the responsibility and vision for improving
student academic performance and achievement. Our staff and parents will continue to build
and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.
As the Principal of this campus, I truly believe that excellent communication is at the heart of a
successful organization. We encourage all our families to get involved with their child’s
education. Please support our reading initiative and encourage your child to read every
day! Throughout the year, there will be many exciting events that will take place. The
administration welcomes your participation always.
If you need anything during the school year, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com

With Sincere Appreciation!
Patricia R. Munoz
Central Middle School Principal
I grew up with my four siblings in a strict educational South Asian family where my father was
medical doctor and my mother was teacher then housewife. So I completed my Master degree in Bio-
Chemistry at the age of 22. At that time I got married and moved to United States with my husband Asif
Rana. I took few educational classes at university of Pan-American now UTRGV and got license in middle
school math. I taught three years 7th grade math, then moved to 8th grade math and Algebra one. This
is my 3rd year at Central Middle School but it is my 11th year teaching for WISD.
21ST Century Learners Initiative
A 21st Century Education Initiative is required in order to teach students how to use critical thinking,
collaboration, communication and creativity along with the Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.
Incorporate Technology into the Curriculum
My students use TI-84 plus Graphing Calculators throughout the lesson that encourage students to
engage in math. By downloading TI-84 plus calculator app on the smart phones, it helps students to
accomplish their homework. I use real world videos/games to introduce the lesson, it engage students
and built their prior knowledge. The apps like Kahoot and Zipgrade is being used throughout the week
for quick assessment to provide immediate feedback.
Challenges with the Initiative or Technology
Technology is much more easily used in other subjects than Math. It’s not easy to looking for activities
that incorporate technology which aligned to the new TEKS. The biggest challenge, not every student
have computer and internet access at home. So without proper tech tools, it limited to complete online
The incorporation of technology allows all levels of students to participate actively, got feelings of pride
to accomplish things, establish ongoing learning habit, and took control of their own learning.
